To be selected fencers must first be a UK Citizen and hold a UK passport. You must also be able to represent GBR at an international level. You then have a right to represent Welsh fencing provided that:

  1. You are a member of Welsh fencing
  2. You were born in Wales
  3. OR you have a parent born in Wales;
  4. OR you have a grandparent born in Wales;
  5. OR you are normally resident in Wales and have been for a period of time (length depends on age and connection)
  6. Fencers must also show a commitment to fencing competitively by attending at least 5 events outside of the welsh regional events (these can include LPJS, Elite Epee, U14 events, Newham foil, cadet BRC etc)

Qualifying fencers must be a member of Welsh Fencing at the time of selection, and at the time of the event. They must also agree (with parental consent) to the code of conduct and conditions (including financial and travel arrangements) of the trip. Welsh fencing reserve the right to withhold selection from fencers with unsatisfactory disciplinary record, or with outstanding debt to WF or its agents.

In the event that a team manager is unable to contact a selected fencer within a reasonable time scale, the offer of selection may be withdrawn and offered to the next available fencer who meets the criteria.

Selection will begin by looking to fill up to 4 U15 slots. Remaining slots will be given to U13s. If there are not 4 eligible U15s then those slots will be offered to U13s that have met the criteria, up to the maximum of 4. Welsh Fencing reserve the right to offer more than 4 slots to U15s should they feel it appropriate. Selection will be allocated in order of rank and will not be subject to any discretion.
