Welsh Fencing are pleased to announce that we have been informed that the Cadet and Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championships will be going ahead in 2024 (https://cjcfc24.co.nz/)
The venue is Christchurch, New Zealand and the event will be held between Friday 12th July and Friday 19th July. It is likely that we will need to arrive in Christchurch on Wednesday 10th July at the latest to ensure we are there in time for weapons control.
This event will clearly require significant logistical and financial planning, so at this stage we are asking for expressions of interest from fencers, and volunteer coaches and TM’s to support the trip. The intention is to select the team by the end of February 2024 to maximise the time preparing for the event.
Welsh Fencing will be contributing to the cost of this event, paying for entries, referee costs and support staff. It is worth stating clearly at this point that is it unlikely that Welsh Fencing will have additional financial support available to fencers to contribute to their travel and accommodation costs.
An early indication of costs shows that the flights will cost £1500 - £2000, with accommodation approx. £75 per night.
